i have "kernels" inside my nose that are extremely painful. these bumps are in between the skin and never come to a head. they make it hard to breathe?

Nasal Lesion: It is hard to tell what these may be. See an otolaryngologist (ENT) for a more complete examination.

Nasal Vestibulitis: If these "kernels" occur right around the nostril openings, it can be a small infection of the nostril hair follicles called nasal vestibulitis. These can be painful and tender bumps from an infected hair follicle. The best treatment and prevention for this is to try bactroban or Mupirocin 2% ointment in the nostrils two to three times a day.
