A 38-year-old member asked:
what does it mean if a newborn has pneumopericardium?
1 doctor answer • 1 doctor weighed in

Dr. Edward Evans answered
Neonatology 18 years experience
Air surrounds heart: The pericardium is a sac of tissue surrounding the heart. Rarely air can become trapped between the sac and heart itself. This can be severe and life threatening.

Are any scents use with the candle warmer like scentsy safe for newborn? Reply asap please.

Dr. James Ferguson answered

Please avoid them: All scents or fragrances are dealt with by a newborn or young infant as an irritant like smoke or paint fumes. If anything, it adds to the risk they will develop significant nasal congestion and begin having breathing difficulty. I feel they have no valid benefit and many drawbacks when used around small children. I advise against them prior to school age.

Variable: Most would become gassy from the carbonation release and some would become hyper from the caffeine in the soda. Otherwise the baby will process the material like any other fluid.

A 32-year-old member asked:
Can yelling at your newborn affect their hearing?
1 doctor answer • 1 doctor weighed in

Dr. Cornelia Franz answered
Specializes in Pediatrics
Not necessarily: But it can affect their psyche. We are sensitive beings and a newborn if yelled at a lot may devlop fluid in the ears (so he/she cannot hear you) but not nerve hearing loss. Being yelled at can make a person even a baby feel insecure and unloved and unsafe. I am talking about a lot of yelling. Not just one outburst.
