Congestion x 1 week+: Nasal congestion for a week is most likely the result of an upper respiratory tract infection or cold. This is typically viral in origin and most effectively managed by staying hydrated and otc medicine that contains a decongestant if needed. Ultimately time is the best medicine.
If your are very uncomfortable and having a hard time breathing, visit your doctor.

Congestion: Congestion can be addressed through several methods -- over the counter decongestants (pseudoephedrine or phenylephrine -- avoid if you have high blood pressure), over the counter nasal saline, or prescribed nasal steroids. Chronic congestion should be addressed by your physician.

Why do I stay congested all the time? Is there anything i can take?

I don't know why you: Are congested. Do you have allergies. Neti pots can reduce nasal congestion. Mix ¼ tsp salt w 1 cup lukewarm water. More salt can also be used. Place solution in neti pot. Tilt head & pour solution into 1 nostril. Blow nose lightly & spit out any liquid that drains into throat. Repeat on other side. This can be done in the evening before you go to bed & again in the morning.
