Yes.: If you have strept throat, you are contagious until you have no fever (over 101 degrees f). If you are on antibiotics, it usually takes 24-48 hours for them to be effective. When you have no fever for 24 hours, you may return to work or school. Continue to do good handwashing and avoid sharing drinking glasses.

Depends on variables: Once you have started treatment you become less contagious with each passing hour.By 24 hrs after starting a penicillin drug, the chance of random passage to others has declined enough to resume your routine. During that first 24 hrs, wash hands a lot, kiss no one, and limit outings to those required to get through the day.
