Short & Long term: 2 weeks will get a large part of the swelling and most bruising gone. Some swelling still remains at this point but most patients are able to return to work at that point. At one month, the majority of the swelling is gone, but subtle changes will continue for up to a year or so. Revision surgery has a longer period of swelling. Ask your rhinoplasty surgeon for details.

Rhinoplasty swelling: Most rhinoplasty swelling resolves within 2-4 weeks after surgery. After this initial period of healing, the nose continues to improve, but more slowly. The "final" swelling may take several months or a year to fully resolve.

Recovery: There are two approaches to rhinoplasty. If all of the incisions are made inside the nose you will begin to have a very good idea of the ultimate shape after several weeks. If an incision is made across the base of the nose it can take 6 weeks to begin to see the final shape. Most swelling is gone at three months but the final result can take twelve months to be apparent.
