Child Psychiatry 36 years experience
A few things: We try to manage the most overt symptoms with meds. We educate the patient about their sx. We help separate symptoms from reality. We help them cope with the sx. If we cannnot do this we find them places to live where they can be cared for and protected and be as independent as possible.
