Is there a name for the sensation you get when your head feels dizzy?

1 doctor answer
Dr. Aaron Haug
13 years experience in Neurology
Two main types: People usually mean one of two things when they say they are dizzy. One is that they feel light-headed, such as the head rush feeling that occurs when standing up too quickly. Another word for this is presyncope (syncope is the medical word for passing out). The other is vertigo, which is a sensation that a person or the things around them are moving.
