Most probably not: Blood HCG test is more sensitive and usually detects pregnancy earlier than urine HCG test. Moreover blood test is done in labs with better controls that urine test done at home under stressful condition.

Yes: Conception occurs within day or so of the sex. It takes about 3 weeks for the embryo to make enough HCG for a positive pregnancy test. Blood test may be done a day after a missed period. Home pregnancy tests should be done 4-5 days after the missed period. If the result is negative repeat the test in 4-5 days. Use first morning urine and follow instructions for the test carefully.

A 29-year-old female asked:
If a at home pregnancy test says negative will the blood test say it too?

Likely: Today's home preg tests can pick up very low levels of the preg hormone hcg. I consider those results reliable. If a result is questionable, repeating the test in a few days will be helpful. If there is some concern about the viability of a pregnancy then serial quantitative blood HCG levels would be helpful for diagnosis.

You can buy a home pregnancy test kit at a pharmacy to test if you are pregnant or go see a doctor, they could also do a blood test to check if you ar?

Question: Is that a question or a statement? Yes, you can get a home pregnancy test at the pharmacy. Try it about a week after a missed period. Your doctor can also do a blood test which is a bit more accurate. These are things you should know before you begin to have sex, particularly if you're having unprotected sex, which is a the most common cause of pregnancy. Adulthood should proceed parenthood.

Please clarify: Perhaps the reason can be known when you tell us honestly why you kept testing at home even though the test told you a positive answer. Something must have clued you into the fact something was not normal. You tell us.
