Chronic fatigue: Chronic fatigue syndrome has been linked to a possible virus . Check with your primary doctor on the best way to manage this problem.

Medicine & exercise: While some viral infections can cause fatigue symptoms, the vast majority of patients with chronic fatigue do not have viral infections. Also, typically there are no treatments for viral infections. While I do recommend evaluation from a physician to rule out other causes, iron, vitamin d, and B12 deficiency, typically there are no laboratory abnormalities. Ask your doc about meds that can help.

Copy your lab result: Redundant labs are frustrating and wasteful. Don't passively let your lab results get to your specialists, get a copy of your own labs, place them in chronological order, and let the specialist know when you will getting labs for soemone else, so they can decide to "piggyback" on tests so you can avoid getting stuck for blood several times.

Yes: You have several options and these options are dependent on whether one can find an underlying cause for the fatigue. If your fatigue is associated with major sleep problems, then a sleep study may be very helpful as one of the first steps.

Depends: There are many doctors who specialize in chronic fatigue syndrome - some are generalists, some are immunologists, and some are infectious disease specialists. Since there is no standardization to treatment, it's best to look around for a reputable physician with experience in the area. Some physicians still do not believe that this condition is real.

Provigil and Nuvigil: These drugs help symptomatically, but studies have shown that people with cfs are relatively deconditioned. If this is applicable to you, you will be more fatigued during any exertional activity. Excercise is the best medicine.

Talk to your doctor : Avoid the use of narcotic analgesics. Consider an antidepressant such as Effexor (venlafaxine) or Cymbalta. Neurontin has helped in some cases. See a psychologist for therapy. Listen to relaxation CD's. Meditate, Swimming (shallow water), and Yoga may help. In severe cases, i have added a stimulant such as Ritalin or Adderall (last resort). Hope this helps. Best wishes!

Is there any way to get treatment for chronic fatigue syndrome?

Controversial: Some docs think that cfs does not exist. Others say it exists but we can prove you have it. No test proves you have it. Just about all adult humans will test positive for epstein barr virus, so that is not proof either. No great treatments exist as far as medications are concerned. Diet, exercise and stress reduction are remarkably effective when you do all three.
