Pain & swelling: Discomfort at a swelling or bulge, most often in the groin or umbilical region. May not be able to see a hernia bulge if it is small. See a doctor for an examination.

Pain and/or lump: A hernia of the abdominal wall is usually associated with pain/discomfort, and a lump under the skin. Best diagnosed with a physical exam, may need special imaging in some cases. Hope this helps!
