are blood sugar home monitors fasting reads just what you ate the day before?

Yes: Fasting blood checks how your sugers are over night and day before. But you should also check post priandial sugers too. Check a sample 2 hrs after lunch and dinner . As a general rule if your sugers are over 200 then your meds need adjusting or you need coverage with a short acting agent. There are home monitors that check a hgba1c which checks a value comissurate with 3 mos controll.
