Damage lining: An ablation uses either heat, cold, or radio frequency energy to cause damage to the lining of the uterus to prevent the buildup of tissue that results in heavy periods. It is considered a permanent procedure but some women have return of heavy periods over time. 95% of pts have good results with periods being normal to none at all. It is dangerous to get pregnant after an ablation.
