Mostly tolerated : Atorvastatin (lipitor) is generally well tolerated with less than ~2% of patient stopping it due to side effects. Some common adverse effects include abdominal pain, myopathy(muscle aches/weakness mostly dose-related), heart burn, swelling, rash. Severe liver /kidney toxicity have been reported. See your physician for routine liver/kidney tests. Take at same time daily/ avoid grapefruit juice.

Well tolerated: Although there are many side affects listed on the printouts you get at the pharmacy most people take this drug without a problem. Most common would be muscle pain or muscle weakness. It does usually get better over time if you do experience this problem.
