CONSIDER THIS: Unfortunately radiation proctitis is a side effect of pelvic radiation. If local therapy has failed, consider this option in which I have seen results. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Ask your doctor for a referral.

Symptoms of: Proctitis include: bleeding, feeling of urge to defecate, passing mucus per rectum. Best to avoid by limiting dose, i can only guess she had gyn cancer. Steroid enemas, proctofoam, are the first; endoscopy to discren bleeding sites. Discuss with her rad onc, find out dose; seek another opinion if not satisfied.
