how can you prevent posterior cruciate ligament (pcl) injury ?

You can't :-(: Tears of the PCL will occur if a significant amount of energy is placed across the knee and in the right direction. Like if your knee hits the dashboard in car accident. That will push your shin backwards and potentially tear your pcl. Pcl tears can not be prevented.

Strong knee: Pcl injuries are somewhat rare and they usually occur by trauma such as car accidents and falls. Thus being safe is good prevention. Having very strong knee musculature and quads can help prevent PCL injury as well. Other than that it is not like the acl injury where there is a high rate of noncontact or pivoting causes of injury.

Which type ?: This label has been associated with both the H1N1 of 2009 and 2013-14 and another strain, H1 N5 (I think) in 2013. The H1N1 was in the vaccine for 2013-14. Vaccination or total exclusion from community contact are the primary preventive measures. Use of Tamiflu (oseltamivir) after exposure may also prevent it.

What causes nicks in my fetal artery dopplers, and how can I prevent them?

Not clear question..: If you are referring to umbilical artery abnormal doppler velocimetry, this is a specialized test for growth restricted fetuses and there is not much you can do about preventing fetal growth restriction. Avoid exercise and follow your perinatologist's instructions to avoid pregnancy complications. Hope this answers your question - if not, please try to specify what you are concerned about.

What diet will prevent the progression of heart disease?

1 doctor answer1 doctor weighed in
Dr. Joseph Roosth

Somewhat: Diet with modification of fat intake, coupled with exercise can help slow heart disease progression. To say it can prevent it is probably stretching things. However, there is no question that regular exercise coupled with good diet habits and a physician's guidance imo can clearly improve one's cardiac disease status. I believe considerable research exists to back up that statement.

A 29-year-old female asked:

If I put and ice pack on a head injury and I put pressure on it is that bad?

1 doctor answer2 doctors weighed in
Dr. William Goldie

No: Trauma to the scalp often produces a "goose egg" swelling due to bleeding into the membranes of the scalp. Ice and pressure will reduce the amount of bleeding. If injury is severe, evaluation may be necessary including ct scan to look for fracture or bleeding inside the skull. Ice and pressure will not affect the fracture or internal bleeding. But additional evaluation would be necessary.
