Could be unrelated: First of all, this could be nothing that affects the baby. But back pain at that early stage could be caused by conditions that occur outside of pregnancy. In addition, it could be from part of the reproductive tract. An obgyn should be able to start evaluation to find the cause and advise about remedies.

Yes.: Early pregnancy will cause your uterus to rise above the pelvis and stretch a lot of ligaments and tissues that can cause low back pain. Take some regular tylenol (acetaminophen) for that and avoid heavy lifting. If you are experiencing flank pain and not low back pain, you could be suffering from kidney infection that can be quite serious and merits medical attention emergently.
