Guessing?: The best way to guess backward is to count 14 days back from the first day of your period. You can also purchase ovulation kits. Just follow the instructions.

Ovulation test: For a woman with periods about the same time every month, the most common time for ovulation is two weeks after the start of your period (regardless of how long your period lasts). You can be more certain by using an ovulation predictor kit: many brands are available at any drug store, and you don't need a prescription.

Use an OPK kit: If you have regular cycles use an ovulation predictor kit (opk) - test between 10 am and noon, starting on day 10 of your cycle. The first morning urine is not accurate. Try the ovuquick brand (available online, get the 9 stick pack) if a drugstore test doesn't work for you. The day of a positive test and the next 2 days are your most fertile days. If you have irregular cycles see a rei specialist.

Midcycle: For women with regular cycles you take your average cycle length ( ie say your average cycles occurs every 30 days) then subtract 14. So for this example you would be ovulating on average around day 16. The other way is to do ovulation predictor kits. Most women find this helpful in predicting ovulation.

Release of an egg: There are several ways to tell if you are ovulating: over-the-counter ovulation detection kits (odk), ultrasound at mid cycle, Progesterone level approximately 7 days before you anticipate your period and/or an endometrial biopsy. Your gyn should be able to perform any of these and you can do the odk yourself.

Several ways : If you have regular periods you should assume you are ovulating since that is the norm. If you are sexually active and do not desire pregnancy please use birth control. There are ovulation kits available at any pharmacy. Ovulation typically occurs 14 days before your next period. Some people like to track basal body temperature but this does not work very well.

How do we know if I ovulated ?????

Best practice: The best predictor of when ovulation occurs is a spike in basal body temperature. Women who are attempting to track their ovulation often take their temperature first thing in the morning at the same time every day for a few cycles. Another reliable way, of course, are ovulation predictor kits that you can buy at the drugstore. Good luck!

See below.: Ovulation occurs fairly predictably at 14 days prior to the next menstrual period. If your periods are irregular then an ovulation predictor kit is available at the pharmacy.

Ovulation test: Ovulation kits can be found at most pharmacies. They are usually next to the pregnancy tests, so don't get them confused. Just read and follow the directions.
