i got up yesterday with severe sharp stabbing pain in my mid back around my spine. i can't turn right or left. just wondering is it a strain or my spi?

Spine or rib dysfntn: Your description is most likely compatible with a vertebra or rib locking.When this happens, it causes the trapezius and levator scapula muscles to tighten down, making it painful to turn your neck. After a good history & phys, incl osteopathic hands-on exam, the cause will likely be elucidated and gentle osteopathic manipulation can likely alleviate the problem.
