Cautery: The overwhelming majority of nose bleeds in children arise from prominent blood vessels in the front/bottom part of the nasal septal mucosa. Coagulation with silver nitrate may help. This can be done by an ENT doctor. In cases where simple measures like this fail, electrocoagulation under general anesthesia may need to be done. This is not that uncommon.
