A 53-year-old male asked:
I am on a gluten free diet. once in a dh blisters show up. how much time goes by between eating gluten and showing the symptoms (i.e. blisters)?

Allergy and Immunology 21 years experience
Variable: Your dh lesions are dependent on your body's production of IgA antibodies to epidermal transglutaminase (etg), which may take several years to resolve, even after strict avoidance of dietary gluten. You may want to discuss initiating Dapsone with your physician for treatment if this continues to be a significant issue.
