Complex question: This is a complex question and depends on exactly what kind of tumor you have, where it is located, how large it is, and what other treatments may be available to you. Unfortunately it's not a simple discussion.

Under the skin IV's: Unfortunately, cancer treatment requires drawing many blood tests, giving fluids and chemotherapy and at times giving antibiotics by vein. If your regular veins were used, they would quickly wear out or worse, toxic drugs could leak out into the skin around them. Placing a thin tube (catheter) under the skin that leads to a large vein simplifies this process. There are different types of catheters.

Maybe: Sometimes, we use a bandage soft contact lens with antibiotics to reduce pain and irritation in patients with corneal abrasions. As a matter of practice, most patients should wear glasses until completely healed. Best to check with your ophthalmologist.

A 16-year-old member asked:

Is it okay that my contact lens is larger than my than cornea?

Yes, for soft lenses: Soft contact lenses are can be 1mm to 2mm wider then one's cornea. Gas permeable hard lenses are smaller. The eye doctor can fit one's lenses properly because he can see how the lenses sit on the cornea, and he sees how much the lenses move when the eyes move and when the patient blinks.

Several ways: There are a number of ways to measure corneal thickness. Ultrsound is the most common way. Also, there are a number of optical ways to determine corneal thickness using different forms of topography or optical coherence tomography (oct).

If the cornea is too thin, this may be a contraindication to LASIK surgery. PRK may work instead.
