Rest: Often times injuries such as isolated swelling of a digit due to a repetitive motion is an overuse injury requiring rest. Ibuprofen may help reduce pain and swelling as well.

Stop hammering: Rest , ice , elevation possibly, and ansaids (flurbiprofen) if tolerated.
