my mom has chronic kidney infections, does anyone have a smiliar problem in a nursing home?

Yes: As the person gets older, the risk of developing infections is greater if the person has multiple medical conditions. Using a cranberry pill or cranberry juice along with plenty of fluid will lessen the chance of developing chronic kidney infections. Please consult the attending physician about using cranberry and about getting a consultation with infectious disease specialist.
