Unless new change: Everyone has a different menstrual flow. What is not always normal is for your menses to change suddenly and drastically. If it was always very heavy and then got lighter without any changes in medication or vice Versace this could indicate an issue

LIGHT PERIOD & SPOTT: The main reason for light periods is change in hormone levels. Causes for what seems to be a light period can include: thyroid problems, eating disorders, excessive exercise, initial periods for a girl, use of an intrauterine device, oral contraceptives, perimenopause & implantation bleeding in early pregnancy which rarely occurs.

This is NG: Eat foods that are nutrient dense (like meat, fish, poultry, eggs, cheese, low starch vegatables and water) avoid foods that are not nutrient dense (like starches and sugars, including fruit) nutrient dense foods will increase your basal metabolic rate. On the other hand, starches and sugars impair thyroid metabolism via affects on your liver (which helps activate thyroid hormone).

Depends.: You need to get your resting metabolism rate checked to see what your rate is. This guideline of everyone eating 2000cal has caused tremendous problems. I check resting rates and most women are between 1100-1500calories and in the rest weight range! so customize this to get the right info.

A 19-year-old female asked:

I am on Aubra for the last 16 months. My periods normally last 3-4 days and are very normal, but for the last 2 months, they've been extremely light?

Normal: Yes this is normal. Birth control pills (BCPs) have higher progesterone effect than estrogen. Not only do they prevent you from ovulating but they also prevent your uterine lining from building. This will make your periods lighter especially over time. Your cramping should also be less. It's important to try to take the BCP around the same time every day to maximize effectiveness.
