Maybe: Depends on what the "special diet" is and what the status is of your metabolism and lifestyle. There are many factors to be cosidered in losing weight besides your diet. My best advice is to find a certified weight management physician who will be able to provide you with safe answers.

Not a bit: vast majority of studies show it's only how many calories in versus out. The ones that do show carbohydrate restriction helps show 1) MOSTLY it's still how much you eat and the carb restriction is 20% better at most 2) I have NOT seen them show progressively better loss of fat. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1775472781/devils-diet more info on subject, and fun

Yes: Though studies show that it is the amount of calories that matter. This is true. However some diets increase the amount of consumed. If you drink sugary beverages you will likely consume more calories. A healthy balanced diet will help you reduce your calorie consumption hence lose weight

(you're not wrong, and.. it's still a question of behavior mod and you have to either ultimately agree or disagree with the existence of free will).
