Consult your doctor: How much weigh you can lose may be different than what is healthy for you to lose. If you are looking to lose as much weight as possible in a 10 week period perhaps you should reconsider your motives for weight loss. It may be wise to consult with your doctor to get a better idea of what is healthy given your current bmi as well as help you to set a realistic target bmi and timeline to achieve.

3500CALS/1 LB: Depends on your present weight and bmr..Say for example if you need 2000 cals to maintain your weight(your bmr+clories burnt by daily activity)if you starve you will be minus 2000x7=14000 cals divide by 3500 equals 4 so you will loose 4 lbs of real body weight you can calculate similarly for other daily calories requirements for others.

Just remember that by "starving" you are going to lose muscle first and not fat and when you resume eating that the body is going to store extra as fat for the next period of starvation. Fasting in this way is dangerous and very unhealthy.

1-2 pounds: A safe rate of weight loss is 1-2 lb. Per week but a higher rate of weight loss may be safely achieved in a medically supervised weight loss plan.

Two pounds at most.: We generally consider one to two pounds of lost weight weekly a healthy rate of loss.

It also depends, in part, on how overweight a person is. Someone who is only 20 pounds overweight won't get adequate nutrition and fluids and lose 2 pounds a week at the same time. Conversely, a person who is 100# overweight can safely lose 2 pounds a week as long as s'he is consuming a varied diet and adequate fluids.

A couple pounds/wk: Successful (intentional) weight loss requires that a person stick to a plan for months or years. The person must be happy with the foods he gets to eat, so severe calorie restriction is usually unsuccessful. A person can cut back on calories enough to lose 2 pounds a week, and will be more likely to stay with that modest type of plan. Two pounds a week is about 100 pounds a year!
