Family Medicine 25 years experience
100.4 F: When the temp is 100.4 or greater. This is based on rectal temperature which is the preferred route of taking the temperature on a baby.
Rectal temp is 1 degree > oral temp
an ear temp is 1 degree > oral temp
an armpit temp is 1 degree < oral temp.
All this in fahrenhiet.
