Blood SugarControl : The hba1c provides limited information. Average overall blood sugar is estimated based in this; there are different ways to get to an average. The home monitoring tells you & doctor what goes on in a day. Low blood sugars mixed in w/highs could make the hba1c look good even if sugars are rollercoastering. Hba1c alone won't identify day to day problems with control.
