Sometimes a Lifetime: It really depends on the tooth, the material used, its size, how you chew, what you chew, & many other factors. Modern fillings can last indefinitely in some cases. However, after millions of chews, millions of pounds of pressure applied, acid attack, and all kinds of other forces acting on your fillings, it can be unpredictable. If you can chose, request the longest lasting material up front.
