Dr. William A Biermann answered
45 years experience Medical Oncology
Overlap: Medical oncologist technically deal with only malignancy and medical issues caused by cancer. Heme/onc doctors are trained in both hematology and oncology and treat cancers and other blood disorders. Most medical oncologists are heme/onc. Some hematologists specialize in blood malignancy and do not treat other cancers. They are technically heme oncologists.
