Have him tested: If he tests and is a match, then you can consider it, but given his age as a minor, you would have to talk to your transplant team to see if they would allow it.

Support his generous thought and relax. Donors must be at least 18 years old to be accepted. Most centers require a level of maturity sufficient to be able to really understand the consequences of donation. Your son's thought is awesome - be proud of him, and learn about the risks/benefits together with him.

How do doctors manage kidney infections in pregnancy?

Dr. Caren Reaves

Antibiotics(Abx): Kidney infections are a serious condition when pregnant. While simple bladder infections can be treated with oral abx as outpatient, kidney infections usually require IV abx and a hospital stay. Daily, preventative abx are then prescribed for the remainder of pregnancy. Call your doctor quickly if symptoms of a bladder infection develop to prevent progression to a kidney infection.

What is the treatment for kidney stones while pregnant?

Dr. Caren Reaves

Usually waiting: If there is no obstruction or infection, most urologists will not treat stones in pregnancy unless the pain becomes unbearable. Even then, they will often just pass a stent (thin tube) up into your kidney to make sure it keeps draining until after delivery. Drinking lots of water and pain meds are the usual course in pregnancy.

What are the signs of diabetic kidney disease?

Dr. Damien Luviano
Ophthalmology 18 years experience
None: Diabetes can hurt the kidneys and not be detectable on urine or blood test. In fact, studies have been done on diabetes patients who have normal kidney test, yet biopsies of these patients show damage. Diabetic retinopathy correlates with diabetic nephropathy. Studies have shown ace inhibitors to be protective of kidneys on both normotensive and hypertensive patients.

See her doctor: Use of medications like Ibuprofen (advil/motrin) or naproxyn (aleve) started at the onset of her period may help decrease her symptoms. Have your sister see her doctor about other options to improve her menstrual cycles, .

What would cause my son's ear to bleed slightly after having swimmers ear?

1 doctor answer1 doctor weighed in
Dr. Cornelia Franz
Specializes in Pediatrics
Inflammation: Is the cause of swimmers ear. The skin gets wet and boggy and inflamed and it could bleed from that or if he picks it at all it could bleed. If he had a middle ear infection as well and the eardrum perforated it could bleed. None of these are terrible problems. If you are concerned it is always a good idea to have it checked out.
