Calories: You're likely gaining weight because your activity level isn't sufficient enough to burn the calories you're ingesting. Increase your workout intensity, and decrease your caloric intake.

Yes, it helps!: First, weight per se is not the holy grail. Leaness is. Exercise helps prevent weight gain, but increases your lean body mass. You will look more toned. Apart from caloric burn from your sporting activities, increasing muscle burns more calories at rest! finally, some people do not lose their "desired weight." but numerous studies (cooper clinic), show that exercising trumps being overweight.

Exercise: Exercise needs to be combined with a healthy nutrition plan to lose weight. If you consume more calories than you did prior to beginning your exercise plan - that may be the problem. Hydrate well with water. Ensure that calories expended exceed calories consumed. Good luck.

Muscle weight?: Generally, one of two things may be happening. If you're building muscle, then you can gain weight from the increase in muscle mass. This is generally a healthy weight increase. If you're eating excessively, and not burning enough calories during your workouts, then you may be gaining weight from fat. If that's the case, then you will need to alter you diet to a healthier one.

Couple of things: You may be adding muscle mass and therefore weight. You may be eating more due to the exercise and feeling hungry
