Can you be allergic to the material use to make intimate "toys"?

Caution with "toys": I am told most adult toys are made of rubber (latex) or synthetic substitutes. These materials directly or during processing can become contact dermatitis sensitizing agents. Irritation of mucous membranes (body cavity linings) is an excellent way to induce sensitization to these chemicals. Some people they could have immediate hypersensitivity. Reactions range from mild rash to severe anaphylaxis.
