What can be done for tonsillitis?

Dr. Bernstein Joel answered

Depends: Tonsillitis can be viral, bacterial and very rarely fungal in origin. If the diagnosis is correct, then the etiology of the inflammation needs to be identified. The treatment follows the specific diagnosis. Viral infections resolve without any treatment. Bacterial infections resolve with the correct antibiotic and if the person has more than 3 or 4 documented episodes, surgery is indicated.

Where can I get medicine for tonsillitis?

Dr. Howard Schneider answered

Your physician: The best place is your regular medical doctor. If they are not available then there may be an urgent care walk-in clinic in your neighborhood. You need to be evaluated by a doctor to make sure that it is not some other problem instead. Do not self medicate, this can mask a problem and make it more difficult to treat.
