Stroke: You have to be more specific - sabotage? Sounds like "goldfinger" is out to get you and only "james bond" can help. If you mean not covered by insurance - then this is becoming a reality with new healthcare these days. As stroke patient are regarded as not economically viable to society and hence dollars are not spent on them. Its rationed care-the new order of the day.

Time will tell: Broca's aphasia- from a stroke in the frontal operculum causes aphasia which with rehab, may improve. While 88 year olds may not heal at the same rate as a younger person, only time and therapy will tell how much improvement is achieveable. Good luck to you!

What do I do if a doctor fired me from her practice then is the only doctor who rounds at my rehab facility?

Find another doctor : Every doctor has the right to fire a patient for any reason as long as reasonable notice (3-4 weeks) is given. It is not his responsibility to find you a new doctor but he may. He is responsible to care for you for any emergencies for the notice period. It is your responsibility to find a new doctor, inquire about covered doctors from your insurance company. The rehab facility has its own doctors.

How can someone get sober with out having to go to a rehab center?

Dr. Susana Duncan

Try AA: Depending on how much you have been drinking or using an addictive drug, you can stop it without medical detoxification, and begin to attend a 12 step support group each day to get you on the path to sobriety. If you have already tried this and failed multiple time then an inpatient rehab setting is the next step, and often successful. The advantage is you are away from temptation.
