Unknown: I am not aware of any case reports of deaths from only metaxalone. In general, muscle relaxants like Metaxalone can cause sedation which can, when combined with other medications, result in respiratory depression and death. As with all medications, they should be taken as prescribed and any questions you should address with the treating healthcare provider.

What is metaxalone used for my wife is on it and i don't know what it is for

Metaxalone : Metaxalone is a muscle relaxant and can be helpful in alleviating the pain associated with sprains, strains and other muscle injuries. If this does not sound right to you, you should have your wife call her doctor and ask why this medication was prescribed. Also, make sure this isn't being confused with Metolazone which is a diuretic (water pill).
