is it safe to have sex while taking metronidazole?

Yes but...: If you are being treated for a vaginal infection with metronidazole, and your partner is not being treated, and you are not using condoms, then your partner could become a carrier of the infection and give it back to you when you are done with your treatment. So, to be extra safe, use condoms until you are done with your treatment.
