Frequent loose BM: Those patients who have a j-pouch usually have many adjustments to make, however those that really needed it are ultimately better for it.

Crohn's or UC : Inflammatory bowel disease or colonic inertia require a pancolectomy--removal of the entire colon. The result is loose stool for 6-12 months, typically. And 1-6 bms/day. Stool bulking agents can lessen this issue, but the younger one is (<50 yrs old) the better the chance that this consequence will be mitigated with meds & diet & time.
