A 41-year-old member asked:
how long does it take chlamydia to start damaging the reproductive system?
1 doctor answer • 6 doctors weighed in

Dr. Denise Elser answered
Specializes in Gynecology
Unsure: We know that when women have surgery and tubal damage is found, that very often chlamydia is found in the fallopian tubes. Because chlamydia usually has no symptoms in women, we typically don't know how long it has been present before the damage started.

Why the symptoms now: Your symptoms may be more apparent because you know that you have the infection. The symptoms should get better in the next couple days.
