A 29-year-old member asked:

in response to respiratory alkalosis, the mom and baby do what?

1 doctor answer2 doctors weighed in
Dr. Colin Kerr
Family Medicine 44 years experience
Respiratory alkalosi: Respiratory alkalosis in a normal adult is due to excessive ventilation/breathing, so the management is to reduce whatever is causing the fast breathing. Anxiety can be treated with both medicaiton and nonmedication strategies. Pain is usually treated with medication. It would be extremely unusual to ever to resort to medications to increase acid levels.

Allergy symptom vary: Allergic reactions can vary from minimally annoying to fatal. If your housemate has more than mild nasal, eye, or skin symptoms i would suggest seeing a board certified allergist to define and appropriately treat the allergies.

Leave them alone: The best thing to do is to leave them alone. Try to get rid of the offending agent, heat, over bundling; consider an office visit if baby's skin does not improve. It may be eczema or another common childhood rash.

My baby is one month and 25 days she just took the rota vaccinatin and vommited right after 2 minutes is that ok or do I have to repeat the vaccination?

Dr. James Ferguson

Repeat if desired: A general "rule of thumb" for oral meds is any vomiting within 15 minutes loses all the med & if needed it can be repeated. Vomiting after 30 minutes not so much.I try to let a kids stomach settle for an hour or so before repeating any med. I'm not a particular fan of this vaccine & don't consider it one of the must haves.

Probably!: Most babies pause breathing for 15 to 20 seconds in the first few months of life. If the breathing resumes spontaneously and there is no change in color it s usually normal. Make sure you take him to his doctor for a ceck up.

Duration?: Local pain, itching, and redness of the skin are typical after a mosquito bite. There is usually an immediate wheal and flare response that peaks at about 20 minutes, or a hard, itchy, bump that peaks at two to three days and resolves over the ensuing days to weeks.

Agree. And don't scratch it. It will take longer to resolve.
