Too many to answer!: Many problems can cause the sensation of stiffness, including osteoarthritis, inflammatory arthritis, capsulitis of the hip joint (like frozen shoulder-only at the hip), piriformis muscle issues and on and on. You need to see a practitioner who can start an appropriate evaluation. Your problem might seem mild now, but it might gget worse if not diagnosed and treated.

Arthritis: Low grade arthritis is probably the most common cause. Be warned, many people mistake low back pain for hip pain. Get it evaluated.
