Can lymphocytes be very low with a case of mono?

Mono: It is more likely that your lymphocytes would be high.

The opposite: The lymphocytes are often increased in any viral illness which applies to mono.Mono is most often caused by the EB virus.There may be more monocytes,than lymphocytes,but they are both commonly elevated in this condition.Predominance of neutrophils and low lymphocytes would make me wonder if the label was correct.
