Several things help: Keep head elevated above level of heart for at least 1 week (e.g. Sleep in recliner) cold compresses help over the first few days some patients benefit from arnica montana and/or a steroid burst and taper (e.g. Medrol (methylprednisolone) dosepak).

Eyelid swelling: Post operative eyelid swelling needs elevation, ice compresses, eliminate excess salt from diet and rest.
Dr. Azita Madjidi

It depends: It depends on what is causing the swelling. Post surgery, cold compresses and head elevation work. If it is from allergies, then anti histamine medication.

Wisdom teeth- doctor said I will have no swelling. So why take them out?

Future problems : Many people just don't have enough room in their jaws for proper erruption or maintenance of wisdom teeth. Sometimes they can form cysts, or damage the other teeth. As a result, we often recommend removing the wisdom teeth before there is pain or swelling. A common time to consider this is around age 15-17, as the roots are not completely formed yet, and the surgery is easiest.

I have swelling in the back and side of my knee?

Commonly a cyst: This can be from many things but if you have an internal knee problem like a meniscus tear or wear on your cartilage, you joint can make extra fluid and this can escape out the back of the knee joint and create a space filled with joint fluid called a poplital (or baker's) cyst. Get evaluated by your doctor first and get a diagnosis.

How can I help manage my pulmonary and pedal edema symptoms?

Dr. Eric Trattner

Elevate & compress: The best self treatment would be to elevate your feet (above your heart) when sitting & elevate the foot of the bed while sleeping. Also compression stockings should be applied every morning before getting out of bed.
Dr. Jeffrey Kass
Podiatry 28 years experience
I agree with the above with the caveat this is discussed with your Internist or specialist as while attempting to remove the swelling from the foot you would not want to overload the heart or lungs.

These days my wife is seeing flashes in one eye occasionally.?

1 doctor answer1 doctor weighed in
Dr. Andrew Shatz
Ophthalmology 26 years experience
See an eye doctor: Most of the time, flashes of light are related either to floaters (changes to the gel that fills the back of the eye), our less commonly migraines. If the flashes last for more than a day, or if there is a decrease in vision as well, see an eye doctor right away.
