Many Reasons: There are many reasons that an eye may be irritated or watering. If there is an eyelash, or any foreign body, even as small as a piece of sand, it may irritate the eye to make it water. Environmental allergies can cause it to water. And yes, viral and bacterial infections can also make it water. When a doctor performs an eye exam with a thorough history, they can help you figure out the cause.
