BPH: Enlarging prostate is seen as we age keeping the bladder from emptying all of the way. Half full bladders fill more quickle so you have to wake more often to urinate. Saw palmetto may help and your doctor has other meds that really help.

See below: The number of times is subjective. If you drink a lot of water by habit you have to go more often. Caffeine from tea or coffee can act like a diuretic . Abnormal conditions include infection, or high blood sugar. If none of the above see a urologist, you may need a cystoscopy ie a look inside the bladder.
