Multiple causes: Usually cholesterol levels correct with thyroid treatment, but there are several other factors that will affect cholesterol levels, like diet, family history (genetics), weight gain and exercise level. Also check with your doctor which one is the goal for your LDL and that would be based on your medical history.
Dr. Gurmukh Singh

It can: Thyroid deficiency can affect lipid metabolism and raise ldl. Even without the effect on ldl, it is important to maintain an optimum dose of thyroid replacement medication.

Not if controlled: If your thyroid hormone levels are within the normal range, it should not have a negative impact on your cholesterol levels.
