Just diagnosed with chronic airway obstruction. What is this?

Question: Was the diagnosis COPD (chronic obstructive airway disease) or airway obstruction of the sleep apnea type because each of these is different and requires different treament and the pathogenesis is different. Copd is commonly smoking related (although not always) and sleep apnea is related to redundancy and/or excess tissue in the oral airway.
