is the quality of vitamins and minerals from supplements equal to those obtained naturally by eating fruit, veg.?

Effects may differ: The vitamins and minerals in supplements are synthesized forms of what is found in food. The problem with depending on supplements rather than eating a balanced diet is that a lot is not known about how the nutrients in foods interact with each other to nourish our bodies. And those interactions cannot (yet) be duplicated in pill form.

No: Absorption of vitamins and minerals as part of a healthy diet is superior to absorption from a pill.
