A 39-year-old member asked:
How has the number of unintended pregnancies per fertile woman changed in the united states over the past half century?

Trend is down: The overall statistics suggest a drop in this number. It is difficult to arrive at, because many who get pregnant and didn't want it, do not advertise that fact. Many of these are terminated which also skews the statistics. It is interesting that the percentage of pregnancies in single women are highest in the states termed "red" and much lower in the blue states.
