Prednisone: Eight 5 mg pills is a total of 40 mg , seem like you may have an exacerbation of asthma, contact dermatitis(like poison ivy) or an autoimmune disease. This dose in not unusual in those cases, sometimes we give 60 mg a day for several days or weeks, and in rare cases up to 1000 mg /day for up to a week. If your doctor said take 40 mg please comply . Discuss with your doctor.
